among musicians for what songs are available to cover, like some kind of unofficial blacklist for the tracks that only the people who wrote them can perform… that everyone understands is too personal, or convoluted, or just too damn good to even try to recreate? and if there is, does that understanding fade after a certain amount of time?
I think there is… there are a few of those untouchables out there… the ones that you can learn the chords to, and be as talented as anything, but when you try and perform it people will still think to themselves, “I mean it sounded good, but it’s just missing something…”
